From Austine Tsenzughul in Bauchi
Bauchi State Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Sen. Bala Mohammed says Toro Local Government Area has abundant resources that can grow Nigeria’s socio-economy.
Sen. Mohammed was speaking at Lame District Head’s Palace when he paid the traditional ruler homage during his election campaign tour of the local government. He assured the people that, if elected, “we will replicate what we did in Abuja, we will harness these resources to develop Toro, Bauchi State and Nigeria,”
He says “when elected your road from Durum, Nahuta, Rauta, Yuga, Gugu Badal and Taka Dan Giwa will be constructed to open avenues for the abundant natural resources within your area. You are sitting on great wealth, and yet suffering, but your pains and tears will soon be wiped away”. He added.
Toro, is the largest Local Government Council in Nigeria, with a population of over one million who are mainly peasant farmers producing groundnuts, rice, corn, sorghum, millet, beans, sweet-potato, Irish potato and cassava among others.
People who spoke to our Reporter complained of negligence from the Government they voted into power.
“We have no schools for our children, we get our drinking water from streams where our animals too drink, not even a small dispensary,no good road to Toro where our pregnant women trek to over hundred kilometers to access ante-natal service”, one man said.
