-pays tribute Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) killed by the coronavirus
Below is a Facebook Post by the VC, Professor Msugh Moses Kembe:
Senate, Dear Colleagues, the University Community and Friends.
I had on 2nd July, 2020 informed you of the result of my COVID-19 test which returned positive. I immediately went into isolation with my wife and was managed under the care of the Benue State COVID-19 team.
It is with joy and glory to God that I write to inform you that I have been successfully discharged from isolation today, being Friday, 17th July, 2020.
I extend my warm regards and appreciations to the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Samuel Ortom who has made sure that COVID-19 patients get the best care available.
I thank the Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Benson Abounu and the entire COVID-19 team in Benue State for working tirelessly to ensure that all patients are successfully managed.
I had gone into isolation with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Godwin Achinge but unfortunately God called him home.
He was a dear brother, wonderful team player and a scholar of high repute. Benue State and indeed Nigeria have lost a great son.
May I use this opportunity to once again convey my deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolence to his wife, Edna and the children.
I pray for the quick recovery of the Wife of the Governor, Dr. Mrs. Eunice Ortom and her son, top Government functionaries affected, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, and all who are receiving care for COVID-19 and other health issues.
To my distinguished colleagues and students and indeed the entire members of the Benue State University community, kindly note that the virus is real but by adhering strictly to the NCDC guidelines and protocols, together we shall conquer.
These are very strange times in our world’s history and the need to work together to defeat this pandemic cannot be over emphasized.
Thank you and may God continue to protect and bless us all.
