Halloween came surprisingly early for a local US police department when they received a call about a “decapitated man” on a driveway.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department rushed to the address in Tennessee having been alerted to the gruesome scene.
A concerned caller called 911 explaining there was a “suspicious person lying in a driveway, with bloody handprints on the garage”.
Police say “officers responded with lights/sirens” until the first officer arrived at the scene and discovered it was actually just some very early Halloween decorations.
In a Facebook post, they warned motorists in the area not to be alarmed by the Halloween display and urged them not to call the police.
“ATTENTION EVERYONE!!!, they wrote. “For those of you driving on Chuckey Pike in Greene County: THIS IS A HALLOWEEN DECORATION!
“Do NOT call 911 reporting a dead body. Instead, congratulate the homeowner on a great display.”
The spooky decorations have divided social media users, with one posting: “Congratulations to these people making something look so real! That is literally the spirit of Halloween.”
Scarlet Kindle posted: “I might be a buzz kill but I just don’t think this is a good idea… I don’t encourage everyone to put up decor like this because someone may very well be hurt and people will drive right by saying- oh it’s just Halloween.”
